We are proud to present this exclusive interview with the trance-duo Jiga & Jinno, also known as Analog Pussy. Both have been living and playing in Israel and all around the World. They have an impressive history in the music-business and they have their own label. We had the opportunity to meet up with them in Sweden at the release-party for their second album, Underground. The style of this album is quite different from the first one, "Psycho Bitch From Hell". Find out why, read on!

Where do you live?

For 2 years near the Dutch border in small little town. It´s a very good contrast between the city and what we make in the studio.

Why did you move to Germany from Israel?

Actually we had to move to Europe because when we started Analog Pussy we had shows outside of Israel and every weekend we had to go like Israel > Holland > Israel > Ibiza > Israel .. so now we can be the next one or two days back at home working.

Too much travelling! I guess if we had to come from Israel to Sweden we would have to stay like 1 week. This way we can go faster and even by car to Switzerland all over Germany, Hungary, Budapest even though it takes like 14 hours. *laugh* :)

Do you play every weekend?

No, there are periods that we are in the studio all the time and we have to be very concentrated and have occasional gigs. When an album is out or there is some major release then we make a World Tour. So now it starts! Now there will be gigs in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, France, Germany and so on.

Do you do this for a living? Do you have an ordinary job besides composing?

No, this is our occupation full time; making tracks, promotion and the contacts. It´s a lot of work! I could tell you that we were doing this full time job for the last 12 months and we have made let´s say... 6 tracks. It does´nt take 2 months to make one track, but much less. It´s a lot of work other than making music, like travelling, promoting and all that...

We are very slow in producing... I mean there are artists who can produce a track in 3 days but for us it takes a lot more time.

We also had special stuff in the last year like finishing the album and moving from house to house. It took a lot of our time but we should have more production in this time.

Do you have a manager?

We do it all by ourselves and that is one of the reasons why we started the label because we were doing a "labels work" anyway. We´re promoting, managing ourselves and we do all those things that count as being a label anyway.

Would it be a waste of money to hire a manager?

What happens to artists in the modern world, especially in this scene, is that nobody really does anything for you and yet you are supposed to be the stupid musician who is artistic and never reaches a contract, and never understands the music-business. If you think about some artists that you know that last year were really hot and now where they are, they´ll probably have an ordinary job like in a garage or whatever. We found out that if you want to survive and not just make a big boom and then disappear after 2 years, and if you do want to make music for a living, you also have to make your "business" your business, and this is what we are doing. This is why we are surviving even though we had only one release of an album 2 years ago. Since then on compilations and 12-inches and now the second album, so we are able to survive 2 years from one album and this is because we are doing it ourselves and not being dependant on other people like managers or labels.
