Tim Schuldt - Exclusive Interview
2002-09-02

For the first time ever, Tim Schuldt, one of the founders of Aurinko Records, Germany, visits Sweden. Magnus @ Mandarin had the opportunity to meet up with him at Docklands in Stockholm, Sweden. Tim is currently working on a new album which is soon to be released.
Where do you live?
I live around 30 km near Düsseldorf in Germany.
Have you ever been to Sweden?
I have only been in Finland and Denmark and I've definately been looking forward to visit Sweden.
Do you do anything else except producing?
I'm a musician on one side, and I'm I actually an audio-engineer on the other side. I'm doing my stuff with the Four Carry Nuts project as well as producing tracks with other friends. Me and my partner do mastering at the 4cn studios in Germany. We have a webpage as well at http://www.4cn-studios.com. It's for mastering and audio-production.
You're one of the founders of Aurinko Records, tell us a bit about the label?
I'm doing it with a partner. I have a friend which I'm doing the studios with and another friend which I'm doing the label with. He's living in Münich and currently working at Cosmophelia which is our distribution as well. Aurinko is a small label. We are just 3-4 people all together. There are a lot of things to do and sometimes it's hard to work since my partner lives 600 km away. We talk over the phone all the time!
Tell us about the Four Carry Nuts project?
It's actually me and my friend who I'm running the studio with. We already had a track on V.A - Catcher and D-Fundation - Suspicious Technology is being released on a sub-label of Nova Tekk.
What do you know about the Swedish scene?
What I know about the swedish scene is the artists make a different sound, style, compared to like the one I'm doing. Scandinavian style is a different kind of music. I don't actually know much about the swedish scene, what's happening over there and so on. I know there are a lot of bands here and the scene is pumping.
What can you tell us about your latest album?
It's called First Error Code and it's nearly finished now. It's going to be totally different from the old stuff. The 12 inch vinyl came out a couple of weeks ago and a maxi-cd is coming as well. It contains the first vocal track and as well as another track from the album. There are two remixes of that track. One is a remix of an american industrial metal band called God Flesh. It's totally different stuff. It's much more heavy.
What do you think the reaction of your new album is going to be?
I'm not sure. I'm very excited to see how people react and I'm quite sure that quite alot of people in the trance scene may be a bit surprised. It's more kind of psychedelic industrial metal, from where my roots are. I always wanted to do something like this. Although it might be a little bit away from the trance I still use a lot of psychedelic stuff. I try to be authentic. I've put all the stuff together which I like to listen to.
